Kim Kardashian made headlines at the Fifth Annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles when she appeared in a full nude-toned face mask that completely concealed her face and hair. The look was paired with a strapless, corseted gown from Maison Margiela’s Fall 2025 couture collection, featuring draped sleeves and a dramatic silhouette. Her outfit was anchored by a layered crystal-embellished choker with green jewels and cross pendants, as well as matching nude nails.

In a video shared on social media, Kim was seen being guided by an assistant while walking the red carpet, presumably because the mask blocked her vision. She reportedly asked her makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, “Do I look okay? The make-up?” despite the mask covering her entire face. Dedivanovic replied jokingly that her makeup looked amazing. Kim later clarified that her hair and makeup had been fully done under the mask, and that the mask choice was a last-minute decision.

The bold, avant-garde ensemble evoked mixed reactions from fans and fashion critics. Some praised her for committing fully to the idea, calling it “next level,” while others criticized the impracticality and said it looked odd. The look was compared to her previously masked appearance at the 2021 Met Gala, where she also hid her face under a full covering.
