Woman fakes baby, uses doll at baby shower
A woman from Airdrie, Scotland, has been exposed after allegedly deceiving friends and family by holding a baby shower and presenting a lifelike doll as her newborn child. According to reports, 22-year-old Kira Cousins claimed she was pregnant, organised a gender-reveal event, and received numerous baby gifts—including a pram and car seat—for her supposed daughter, whom she named Bonnie-Leigh Joyce.
Friends say Kira shared ultrasound scans and videos of a “baby bump,” and even simulated labour and birth moments. After the “birth,” she paraded the doll as if it were her real child, dressing it in newborn outfits and pushing it in a pram. Suspicion grew among loved ones when the “baby” never cried, could not be touched, and the father allegedly was never allowed to see the infant.
The truth emerged when Kira’s mother discovered the doll in her daughter’s room, leading to a confrontation. Kira later posted a brief statement on social media admitting the “baby” was a doll and apologising—while also acknowledging that none of “them knew. Neither did the dad and his family.”
This incident has deeply unsettled the women’s social and family circle, especially those who contributed gifts and support. One friend expressed shock: “How may people must be hurt right now—everyone believed her.
