Yobe police arrest APC secretary death of woman

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 60-year-old man, Abdulmumini Garba, in connection with the death of a 45-year-old woman, Falmata Abubakar, in Gashua, Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State.

According to the police, Falmata’s body was discovered near the fence of Federal University Gashua on October 17, 2025, having been transported and dumped at the location. In the statement released by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the suspect confessed to having driven the victim in his vehicle, during which an argument broke out when the victim sought financial assistance for her business. The confrontation reportedly resulted in her death inside the vehicle, and subsequently the suspect disposed of the body in a bush near the university at around 10 pm that same night.

The suspect is identified as the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Karasuwa Local Government Area and also Secretary of the Vegetables Market (Kasuwan Gwari) in Gashua. Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended the Bade Division team for the successful arrest and reiterated the command’s commitment to concluding the investigation swiftly and charging the case to court.

At this stage, investigations are ongoing and further forensic examinations and statements are expected to clarify the full circumstances around Falmata’s tragic death.
