A yet-to-be-identified tricycle (keke) rider was killed by a stray bullet outside a brothel in the Badore area of Ajah, Lagos State. According to the Punch newspaper, the incident occurred when gunmen opened fire in the area, possibly during a clash between cult groups.
Eyewitnesses told reporters that the rider had stepped out of the brothel briefly to buy an item from a nearby shop when the shooters, driving past in a blue Toyota Corolla, began shooting. One of the bullets struck him and he died instantly. The attack is believed to have been aimed at a rival cult member, but the tricycle operator was caught in the crossfire.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the victim’s body was recovered and deposited in a morgue. The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said the police would investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
This tragic event adds to a series of cult-related shootings in Lagos lately, raising concerns over public safety and the risk to bystanders. Residents of Badore and surrounding areas are calling for tighter security, surveillance, and swift action to check the escalation of armed violence in the community.
