Enugu man arrested for defiling daughters
The Enugu State government has confirmed the arrest of Ozioma Okonkwo, a native of Imo State residing in Enugu, for allegedly defiling his two biological daughters aged two and five years.
According to official information, the suspect was apprehended on the night of October 25 2025 following a distress call from a concerned citizen who alerted authorities about the incident. The children have since been placed in a government-approved shelter under the supervision of the state’s Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, where they are receiving both medical care and psychosocial support.
The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations, the government said. The ministry also reiterated the state’s zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence, stressing that perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.
