Missing 3-year-old girl found dead in soak-away pit Minna
Tragically, a three-year-old girl, Saudat Nasir, was found dead in a soak-away pit in Minna, Niger State, a day after she was reported missing. According to local reports, she disappeared while her mother, Hafsat, visited a friend and left Saudat playing unattended in the compound.
The recovery of Saudat’s body on Sunday, October 26, followed an intense search operation. Her remains were subsequently buried according to Islamic rites at Kpakungu Burial Ground, Minna.
While the exact circumstances of how the child entered the soak-away pit remain unclear, the incident highlights serious concerns about child safety and supervision in residential compounds. In response, community leaders and state authorities are being urged to ensure that dangerous structures like open soak-away pits are properly secured to prevent further incidents.
