Benjamin Hundeyin reaction to girlfriend’s arrest demand
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command, has weighed in after a woman sent him a WhatsApp message asking for the arrest of her boyfriend. In the viral screenshot, the woman repeatedly pleaded with the police to “arrest my boyfriend and lock him up in cell for weeks or months” so that he could change.
Hundeyin responded via his official X handle by emphasising that the police cannot detain individuals without lawful reason. He wrote: “We are law-abiding, please. We do not lock people up without legal basis.”
He reminded the public that law enforcement must be guided by evidence, complaints, and due process—not by personal relationship disputes. His comment sparked a large online engagement, with many social media users reacting to both the woman’s request and the police’s short but firm response.
