Shebeshxt accused of shooting motorist in Polokwane road rage

South African rapper Shebeshxt (real name Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke) is facing serious allegations after a reported road-rage shooting. The incident occurred on the evening of 19 October 2025 in Polokwane, Limpopo Province, where a confrontation between Shebeshxt and another driver escalated violently.

According to multiple media reports, the clash began when the two men argued over what was described as reckless driving. The dispute followed them into a petrol station near the Westenburg Police Station. Witnesses say Shebeshxt carried a firearm and opened fire, hitting the other motorist in the solar plexus. The victim was then rushed to a hospital and placed in intensive care.

The local police have admitted the case. Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe ordered the Murder and Robbery Unit to take over the investigation. The rapper, described as a person of interest, was taken into custody by his lawyers on 23 October and detained briefly. He was released shortly after, which led the victim’s family to accuse the police of preferring the rapper.

No official conviction has been reported yet. Authorities are still gathering evidence, including statements from the rapper and the victim, and are reportedly reviewing CCTV footage from the petrol station.

This case continues to generate public and media scrutiny, given Shebeshxt’s previous brushes with the law and his public profile. The outcome may have implications for celebrity accountability in South Africa.
