Actress Uche Ogbodo has responded strongly to comments by fellow actress Maureen Solomon, reaffirming that there is “nothing morally wrong with enhancing your body.”

In the exchange that surfaced in late October 2025, Maureen Solomon had voiced concerns over the social-media trend of posting recovery videos from Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgeries, arguing that while she did not oppose the procedures themselves, she believed the publicising of them could send the wrong message to young women. Uche Ogbodo, who openly underwent a BBL procedure for her own reasons of body-image and mental health, pushed back against the criticism. She emphasised that cosmetic enhancements are personal decisions tied to confidence and self-perception, not moral failings. In her words: “There’s nothing morally wrong in enhancing any part of your body that you don’t feel comfortable with. Be it your nose, your dentition, your tummy, your butt it’s your body, and technology has made it possible to improve it.”

She pointed out that after three caesarean sections and the physical changes that motherhood brought, she made the choice to undergo surgery for her mental health to reclaim how she felt about herself.

Uche also stressed her commitment to transparency about the procedure, arguing that public figures shouldn’t conceal their enhancements in ways that promote unrealistic ideals. She said: “You worked on your body. So why are you now hiding the fact that you worked on yourself?”

The dispute shines a light on ongoing debates about body enhancement in Nigerian celebrity culturebetween personal freedom and the social responsibility of influencers.
