Amotekun operative missing wife protest Ondo
A visibly pregnant woman staged a solitary protest at the Igbatoro Road Roundabout in Akure, Ondo State, calling for answers about the disappearance of her husband, who is an operative with the Western Nigeria Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps).
The woman, identified as the wife of Victor Temitope Akinsipe, said her husband left their home after receiving a call from the Amotekun command based in Akure to attend a “peace meeting” at the Senior Staff Club. He has not been seen or heard from since the meeting, she said.
According to the protest footage, the woman held a placard and appealed to both the state government and the security agency to help locate her husband. She described the ordeal as deeply distressing and underscored her vulnerability, given her pregnancy and absence of clarity on her spouse’s whereabouts.
In a related development, the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State announced that three officers including the missing Victor Akinsipe have been suspended and declared wanted for alleged misconduct and breach of oath. The corps commander indicated investigations are ongoing.
This incident raises serious concerns about accountability and welfare within the security agency, as well as the safety of its personnel. Many in the state community are now calling on the state government to intervene promptly, ensure the missing operative is found, and guarantee the protection of his family.
