Lere Olayinka defends Nyesom Wike over Dubai trip criticism

Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, has responded sharply to critics who condemned his boss, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, for taking his sons along to an official engagement in Dubai.

Several online users had accused Wike of mixing family affairs with government business, suggesting that the trip reflected misuse of public resources. However, Olayinka dismissed the backlash, describing it as baseless and fueled by envy. He emphasized that the minister had every right to take his children along since the trip did not breach any law or official protocol.

Olayinka further stated that those criticizing Wike were merely looking for reasons to attack him regardless of the situation. According to him, such critics have no moral standing to question the minister’s personal choices, especially when the trip was transparently conducted and in line with his official duties.

He concluded by saying that the public should focus on the minister’s achievements in the FCT rather than his family’s presence at official events, noting that Wike remains committed to his responsibilities and continues to deliver on his mandate.
