Don Jazzy on Mo’Hits breakup
Nigerian music producer and Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has revealed that he almost quit music and moved abroad after the breakup of Mo’Hits Records. The music mogul shared this during a recent interview where he reflected on his career, struggles, and the challenges that followed the end of the iconic label he co-founded with D’banj.
According to Don Jazzy, the split left him emotionally drained and uncertain about his future in the music industry. He explained that the breakup came at a time when Mo’Hits was at its peak, producing some of the biggest hits in Africa. The experience, he said, made him question whether he still wanted to remain in the industry or start afresh in another country.
He admitted that the period after the group’s collapse was one of self-doubt and contemplation. However, he credited his resilience, family support, and his love for music for helping him rebuild. This led to the birth of Mavin Records, which has since grown into one of the most successful record labels in Africa, housing stars like Rema, Ayra Starr, and Ladipoe.
Don Jazzy noted that his journey has taught him the importance of patience, adaptability, and gratitude. He urged young creatives to embrace setbacks as part of growth, saying that failure and disappointment often serve as the foundation for greater success.
