Nigerian military forces have rescued a number of kidnapping victims in Kogi State, as part of a broader crackdown on abductions in the region. According to a statement from the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade, a coordinated operation along the Obajana–Lokoja Road led to the recovery of 17 victims 13 adults and four children after intelligence was received regarding the kidnapping of a bus travelling from Osun State to Abuja.

In another recent operation, troops of the 2 Division (Sector 3) of the Nigerian Army rescued 21 people in operations across both Kogi and neighbouring Kwara State. The rescued included an infant, several adults and four Chinese nationals who had been held captive for up to four months.

While these operations demonstrate growing security efforts, the reports did not specifically mention that ransom money was recovered in the Kogi rescue operations. Some previous police-operations elsewhere in Nigeria had recovered large sums of ransom along with hostages
