Justin Baldoni’s $400 million countersuit against Blake Lively officially ends
Baldoni had filed a high-stakes countersuit seeking US $400 million in damages for defamation, extortion and related claims against Lively, Reynolds and others, stemming from her prior allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation during the production of their film It Ends With Us.
On June 9 2025 a federal judge, Lewis J. Liman, dismissed the lawsuits, ruling that Lively’s claims were legally protected and that Baldoni’s team had failed to meet the legal standards required for defamation.
On October 31 2025 Judge Liman entered a final judgment closing the case after Baldoni and his co-plaintiffs failed to file an amended complaint by the deadline. Only Lively responded and asked that her claim for legal fees remain active, which the court granted.
While Baldoni theoretically retains the right to appeal, the formal countersuit for $400 million is now fully ended.
