Teenager kills cousin for ritual in Edo
A disturbing incident has been reported in Edo State involving the alleged ritual killing of a young boy by his cousin. According to authorities, a 12-year-old boy named Emiliano Egwunbare was kidnapped and later found murdered by his 18-year-old cousin Tega Emajuwa in the Obagie Community of Egor Local Government Area.
The matter came to light after Emiliano’s family reported his disappearance, and investigations led to the arrest of Tega Emajuwa along with two accomplices: Edugie Destiny (20 years) and Osayande Vincent (23 years). The trio reportedly abducted Emiliano on September 16, 2025, demanded ransom from his parents but failed to release him.
The boy’s body was discovered inside a well after the suspects made confessional statements. It was indicated that some of the victim’s vital organs were removed, raising fears the act was committed for ritualistic purposes. The police statement from the Edo State Police Command clarified that the suspects remained in lawful custody and had been formally charged on October 16, 2025.
Local residents and community members are deeply shaken by the brutality of the crime. The case reflects growing concerns in the region over ritualistic killings and the exploitation of vulnerable children. Child protection advocates and law enforcement officers have urged families to remain vigilant and report any unnatural disappearance immediately.
The legal process is ongoing as the suspects await trial. Further forensic work and investigation are expected to establish the full extent of involvement of each suspect and to determine whether broader networks may have been at play.
