Pistol concealed inside loaf of bread arrested Delta

A suspect has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command after a routine stop-and-search operation uncovered a pistol concealed inside a loaf of bread. The arrest occurred on November 6, 2025, at approximately 8:45 a.m. at the Koka Roundabout in Asaba, the state capital.

The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike of Ogbeowele Quarters behind the General Hospital in Asaba, was intercepted by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS). His behaviour raised suspicion during the stop-and-search exercise, prompting officers to carry out a thorough search.

During the search, a locally fabricated “Beretta” pistol was found hidden inside a loaf of bread the suspect was carrying. The weapon was immediately secured as an exhibit.

The Commissioner of Police, Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the RRS operatives for their vigilance and professionalism. He emphasised the command’s ongoing commitment to intelligence-led policing, particularly in identifying and apprehending criminals who adopt unconventional methods.

Investigations are ongoing to determine whether Chibuike is linked to recent armed robberies or kidnappings in Asaba and neighbouring communities. Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activities to the police.
