BUK student found alive after four years
A former undergraduate of Bayero University Kano (BUK), identified as Shafiu Auwal Ibrahim, has been found alive after four years of being missing. He originally disappeared in 2021 from his residence in the Janbulo area of Kano State.
According to family sources, Shafiu was discovered in a village in Kaduna State living with an Islamic cleric who said he took the young man in after finding him in a mentally unstable state. The cleric gave the impression that Shafiu had been under his care for an extended period prior to the discovery. The family have expressed relief and gratitude for his safe return and report that he is now back home, in stable condition.
This case had weighed heavily on Shafiu’s loved ones, who spent years searching and hoping for his safe recovery. The resolution brings emotional closure to a prolonged period of anxiety and uncertainty. It also highlights the complexity of missing-person cases, especially where factors such as mental health or displacement may play a role.
