The Lekki‑Ajah corridor in Lagos is set to undergo a major eight-month traffic diversion and road rehabilitation project. The Lagos State Government announced that the works will begin on Saturday 15 November 2025 and run through to Wednesday 15 July 2026.

According to the statement from the Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Commissioner for Transportation, the project will be executed in two distinct phases to reduce disruption. In phase one, the section from the Lekki First Toll Gate to the Lekki Second Toll Gate will be worked on in seven segments. One lane will be closed at a time while the other remains open for traffic. When a lane is completed, the work shifts to the next lane.

In phase two, the section from the Lekki Second Toll Gate to the Ajah under-bridge will be handled in four segments. During this phase, vehicles moving from Ajah toward Lekki will be diverted to one lane while the other lane is worked on. Once one lane is done, the work will switch. Throughout this phase, traffic toward Ajah will remain open.

Motorists and residents have been advised to be patient, obey traffic officials, and follow diversion signage during the rehabilitation period. The state government emphasises that while portions of the corridor will be partially closed, movement will still be maintained to the greatest extent possible.

This initiative forms part of the state government’s broader commitment to improving road infrastructure in Lagos, easing traffic flow, and enhancing commuter safety across key urban corridors.
