PDP expels Wike, Fayose, Anyanwu for anti-party activities
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled a number of high-profile members, including Nyesom Wike, Ayo Fayose, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, and several others, citing “anti-party activities.”
The decision was made at the PDP’s national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, and was reportedly ratified by an overwhelming majority of delegates. The motion to expel was moved by former national vice-chairman Bode George and seconded by the Bauchi State PDP chairman, Samaila Baga.
According to the PDP, those expelled undermined party unity, frequently litigated against the party’s interests, and breached the PDP constitution. Other names on the expulsion list include Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), Umar Bature, Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Ammah, George Turner, Mao Ohabunwa, Dan Orbih, and Abdurahman Mohammed.
Reacting to the move, Wike’s camp described the convention as a “Dirty December in November,” suggesting the gathering was more celebratory than serious. Meanwhile, Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri, who chaired the convention, dissociated himself from the expulsions. He called for peace and reconciliation, saying that he does not support decisions that could further destabilize the party.
