DSS arrests arms supplier linked to Plateau violence

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a suspected major arms supplier, Musa Abubakar, linked to violent attacks in Plateau State and surrounding regions.

According to DSS sources, the arrest was made on November 12, 2025, following precise intelligence that led operatives to Abubakar’s arms manufacturing workshop in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.

During the raid, agents reportedly seized high-caliber weapons, ammunition, improvised explosive device (IED) components, and other chemicals associated with bomb-making. Abubakar allegedly admitted that he manufactured and distributed these weapons to armed groups responsible for recent massacres and violent incidents in Plateau and neighbouring states.

This arrest comes after earlier prosecutions by the DSS. In September 2025, the agency arraigned nine individuals on charges including terrorism and illegal arms dealing in connection with attacks in Plateau and Benue States.

The DSS says the operation underscores its ongoing commitment to dismantling illicit arms networks and curbing violence in volatile regions.
