NYSC denies ransom pamphlet
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has denied the authenticity of a widely shared pamphlet that allegedly advises corps members to pay ransom if they are kidnapped or taken hostage.
In an official statement released via its X (formerly Twitter) account, NYSC’s Management stated that the document circulating online is not an official NYSC publication and does not reflect its security policy for corps members. According to the statement, a similar document had been presented by a consultant in 2021, but it was “never approved or adopted” by the Scheme.
NYSC reassured corps members and the public that it remains committed to their safety and continues to work with security agencies and other stakeholders to improve protection and respond to emerging security threats.
