Falz demands Tinubu resignation over insecurity
Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, known as Falz, has publicly called on President Bola Tinubu to resign, accusing him of failing in his duty to protect citizens amid mounting insecurity.
Falz’s demand came in response to several recent security crises, including the abduction of 25 students from a girls’ school in Kebbi State, the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno State, and a deadly attack on a church in Kwara State.
On his X (formerly Twitter) account, Falz quoted a 2014 tweet by Tinubu, when the now‑President was an opposition figure, calling on then-President Goodluck Jonathan to resign over insecurity.
He wrote:
“You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!”
Falz argued that Tinubu’s current behaviour mirrors his past criticisms warning that his inaction and “pretending to care” are no longer acceptable given the severity of the security situation. He questioned how many more Nigerians must be kidnapped or killed before the government takes meaningful action.
This rallying cry from Falz adds to a growing chorus of public voices demanding urgent reforms or accountability.
