Relatives positively identified the bodies as belonging to two of the missing women. The victims have been named as Bognou Alice and her niece Sandra. The remains have been deposited at a mortuary pending forensic examination and further investigative procedures.

The police said two suspects Nonso Augustine Akpeh (37) and Kingsley Akpeh (44) have been arrested and are cooperating with investigators. A third suspect, Uchenna Nicholas Mmadu, remains at large.
