Harrison Gwamnishu ransom money explanation
The lawyer to popular humanitarian activist Harrison Gwamnishu has given a public account of how the ransom money entrusted to him by the family of an abducted couple was handled. The explanation followed rising online accusations and speculations suggesting misuse of the funds meant for the rescue of the victims.
According to the lawyer, the money was received strictly for the purpose of facilitating negotiations and logistics required to secure the release of the abducted couple. He explained that the funds were reportedly used for verified security-related engagements, transport to remote locations, communication with intermediaries, and other urgent expenses tied directly to the rescue process.
The lawyer stated that no part of the money was converted for personal use and that proper records of transactions were maintained. He added that the family of the victims was kept informed throughout the process, stressing that the intervention was carried out in good faith under intense pressure and time-sensitive conditions.
He further disclosed that the involvement of the activist was purely humanitarian and driven by the urgent need to save lives. According to him, Gwamnishu acted as a bridge between the family and critical rescue channels, ensuring that every step taken aligned with the sole objective of securing the victims’ freedom.
The explanation comes amid growing public scrutiny of private rescue efforts in kidnapping cases. Many Nigerians have continued to debate the risks, transparency, and accountability involved when individuals intervene in such delicate security situations without direct government control.
