Niger students abduction rescue update
The Christian Association of Nigeria has stated that it is not officially aware of the reported rescue of 100 students abducted in Niger State. The association made this clarification amid growing reports that some of the kidnapped students had regained their freedom, stressing that no formal communication had been received from security agencies or government authorities to confirm such a development.
CAN officials explained that while they have heard similar claims circulating in the public space, they are relying strictly on verified information before making any official pronouncement. They noted that families of the abducted students remain in deep distress and deserve only accurate and confirmed updates, not speculation that could raise false hope or worsen their emotional trauma.
The association also urged the government and security agencies to provide clear and timely information on the status of the abducted students. According to CAN, transparency is critical in situations involving mass abduction, as it helps to calm public anxiety and assure affected families that concrete efforts are being made toward a successful rescue.
The Niger State students’ abduction has continued to generate national concern, with renewed calls for stronger security presence around schools and vulnerable communities. Religious and civil groups have also intensified prayers and advocacy for the safe release of all victims, while the public awaits official confirmation of any rescue operation.
