AGN reacts to president-elect accident that killed child
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has reacted to the involvement of its newly elected president-elect, Abubakar Yakubu, in a tragic road accident in Lagos that claimed the life of a child and left the child’s mother injured. AGN leadership, speaking through former national president Emeka Rollas, described the incident as a heartbreaking accident resulting from an unexpected mechanical brake failure and not a deliberate wrongdoing. The guild confirmed that Yakubu, though physically unhurt, was deeply shaken by the tragedy and fully cooperated with law enforcement and emergency responders at the scene. AGN officials, along with Yakubu, visited the bereaved family to offer condolences, emotional support, and solidarity during the difficult time, emphasising the shared sorrow and expressing heartfelt prayers for the child’s soul and the mother’s recovery. The statement also urged members of the public, the entertainment industry, and stakeholders to refrain from speculation or divisive commentary as all involved heal from the incident, highlighting the guild’s commitment to unity and compassion in the face of such tragic events.
