Don Jazzy responds to beggar with ‘everlasting request’
Nigerian music producer and record label boss Don Jazzy has responded to a Twitter (X) user who made what he described as an “everlasting request” after asking him for help this holiday season. The exchange began when a woman tweeted that she hoped Don Jazzy would ask her what she wanted for Christmas, promising she would not be greedy. In response, Don Jazzy playfully wrote back, inviting her to say her request because he noticed her engaging with his posts online.
The woman then explained that she wanted financial help to clear debts before the year ends and to kick-start a charity called the “Mercy Foundation” focused on covering dialysis fees weekly for patients with kidney failure, a cause she said was inspired by losing her brother to kidney disease. Her answer prompted Don Jazzy to react with mild shock, saying her requests were “giving everlasting expenses on another person’s pocket,” suggesting the financial burden was large and would be difficult for anyone to support.
Later, when asked what lesson he has learned this year, Don Jazzy said he realised that he cannot help everyone, hinting at the limits of how much assistance he can provide despite his success and generosity.
