2026 World Cup winners prize money
FIFA has confirmed that the winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will receive $50 million in prize money, marking a record financial reward for the national association of the team that lifts the trophy at the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada next year. The announcement came as part of a record-breaking prize fund of $655 million to be distributed among the 48 participating teams, a nearly 50% increase compared with the 2022 edition in Qatar. Under the approved structure, the champions will earn $50m, with the runner-up set to get $33m, third place $29m, and fourth place $27m, while all teams will receive at least $9m for participation, plus an additional $1.5m to cover preparation costs. FIFA said the expanded prize pool reflects the enlarged 48-team format and its commitment to boosting global football development ahead of the tournament, scheduled from 11 June to 19 July 2026.
