Troops repel Borno drone attack, rescue Benue kidnap victim
Nigerian troops have successfully repelled a drone attack by terrorists in Borno State while simultaneously rescuing a kidnapped victim in Benue State, the military has confirmed. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by security forces to counter insurgent activities and protect civilians across the country’s volatile regions.
According to military sources, the drone attack in Borno was detected early, and troops on the ground quickly neutralised the threat before any casualties were recorded. The intercepted drone was reportedly intended to target a military outpost, but the prompt response prevented any damage or loss of life.
In a separate but coordinated operation in Benue State, troops successfully rescued a kidnapped individual who had been held by armed abductors. The victim was found unharmed and immediately reunited with family members. Military officials said the operation was part of a broader campaign to secure vulnerable communities and combat the rising trend of kidnappings for ransom.
The Nigerian Army emphasised its commitment to improving security in affected states and urged residents to cooperate with authorities by providing timely intelligence. Analysts have noted that such coordinated responses indicate increasing operational capability among security forces despite persistent challenges posed by insurgents and criminal gangs.
