Nigerian troops and CJTF neutralise 21 terrorists in Borno
Troops of the Nigerian Army, working with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) under Operation Hadin Kai, have neutralised 21 terrorists in Borno State during a successful counter-insurgency operation along the Damboa–Maiduguri Road near Sojiri and Kayamla villages, military sources said. The action came after credible intelligence guided the troops and allied civilian forces to intercept and engage the terrorists, who were attempting to move through the area in large numbers.
The confrontation resulted in the elimination of the 21 insurgents, whose presence threatened local communities and hindered security efforts in the region. The operation forms part of sustained offensive measures aimed at degrading the capabilities of extremist groups such as Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), which have long operated in the troubled North-East. Security officials described the collaboration between the regular troops and the CJTF as crucial, noting that the combined effort helped deliver a decisive blow to the terrorists during the encounter.
Authorities said the success underscores the continued commitment of security forces to deny terrorists freedom of movement, protect civilians, and create conditions for stability in Borno State. Citizens have been urged to continue cooperating with security agencies and provide timely information that could lead to further gains against insurgent elements still active in parts of the region.
