Wanted drug kingpin ‘Kanmo-Kanmo’ arrested after 12 years; female online vendor detained for drug trafficking
A **notorious drug kingpin known as “Kanmo-Kanmo” has been arrested in Lagos more than 12 years after being wanted in connection with the deaths of three officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and in a separate development a female online vendor was also detained for alleged drug trafficking. The NDLEA said it arrested the fugitive in Ikeja, Lagos State, following sustained intelligence work and collaboration with security partners to bring him to justice after years on the run.
According to the agency, “Kanmo-Kanmo” had been linked to a syndicate involved in the manufacture and distribution of hard drugs across several states, and was wanted in connection with the killing of three NDLEA officers during an operation more than a decade ago. While the exact circumstances of those deaths are a matter of official investigations and court records, the arrest of the suspect was welcomed by the NDLEA leadership as a major breakthrough in the fight against organised drug crime in Nigeria. Officers involved in the arrest said he was found during a targeted operation based on actionable intelligence that led them to his hideout in Lagos.
In a related action, NDLEA operatives also arrested a female online vendor in Lagos who was allegedly trafficking illicit substances through delivery services linked to her e-commerce activities. The agency said the suspect was picked up after intercepted consignments led investigators to her, and that quantities of hard drugs were seized at the scene. The NDLEA emphasised that online platforms are increasingly being exploited by criminal networks to conceal the movement of controlled substances, and that the arrest reflects expanded efforts to clamp down on such threats.
NDLEA officials reiterated their commitment to dismantling drug cartels and bringing perpetrators to justice, urging citizens to support anti-narcotics efforts by reporting suspicious activities. They also noted that both suspects will be charged in court as the investigations and prosecution processes continue. The twin arrests highlight ongoing enforcement work aimed at reducing drug-related crime and strengthening community safety.
