Father kills his own son after being caught with his daughter-in-law
A tragic and shocking family incident has been reported in Kadoma, where an elderly father allegedly killed his own son after being caught in a compromising situation with his daughter-in-law. The incident took place on January 6, 2026, and has left the local community in disbelief.
According to initial police reports, 78-year-old Benjamin Harry allegedly fatally assaulted his 30-year-old son, Kudakwashe Harry, after the son returned home and discovered his father with his 22-year-old wife, Evelyn Mashava. The confrontation quickly escalated, and Benjamin is said to have struck his son repeatedly with an iron bar, causing fatal injuries.
In the aftermath of the killing, authorities arrested seven people, including the mother of the woman involved and several others identified as Evelyn Mashava, Mike Hwata (36), William Grasham (34), Tongai Mavhurume (18) and a 16-year-old minor, along with Perfect Vembo (18). Reports indicate that there were attempts to stage the scene to suggest the son’s death was a suicide, but police investigations quickly uncovered inconsistencies, leading to the arrests.
Conflicting accounts have also emerged about the events that led up to the tragic killing. Some versions suggest that Vembo and Grasham were involved in a separate confrontation with Kudakwashe on the same day, and that Evelyn’s brothers intervened during the incident. Evelyn herself reportedly claimed that her brothers came to protect her from alleged mistreatment.
A post-mortem examination later confirmed that Kudakwashe suffered significant head trauma consistent with being struck by an iron object, supporting the assertion that his death was caused by blunt force injury inflicted during the altercation.
The police investigation continues as authorities work to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and determine the appropriate charges against those arrested. The case has sparked deep concern about domestic violence and the devastating effects of disputes within families.
