Ayo Labinjoh slams Davido over paternity denial
Nigerian music star Davido, born David Adeleke, is at the centre of a heated public dispute with Ayo Labinjoh, the mother of a teenager who claims to be his child, after his strong denial of paternity reignited controversy online. The disagreement, one of the most talked-about entertainment stories in Nigeria this month, has taken an increasingly personal turn as Labinjoh directly criticised the singer’s response.
Labinjoh took to social media to challenge aspects of Davido’s account of their long-running paternity saga, disputing his claim that multiple DNA tests had already been conducted and questioning his past behaviour. She shared her side of the story, asserting that the only DNA test ever performed was done in 2014 and was improperly handled, and that Davido was not as wealthy when they first met as some commentators suggested. In her remarks she wrote that, given his conduct over the years, “You are a boy, NOT a man” and added “You are a dad, NOT a father”, sharply rebuking his alleged failure to take the matter seriously and to agree to an independent test.
The controversy has resurfaced after a social-media appeal attributed to Labinjoh’s daughter, Anuoluwapo Mitchell Adeleke, who asked Davido for a fresh DNA test to establish her identity. Davido responded publicly with strong denials, stating that several DNA tests had shown he is not her father and admonishing Labinjoh and her daughter to stop contacting him. Those denials, which included blunt language on X, have drawn both support for the singer and criticism from those who believe the case deserves independent biological verification.
The dispute highlights the emotional stakes for the family involved and the broader public interest in celebrity paternity claims. Labinjoh insists her fight is not for publicity but for her daughter’s identity and emotional wellbeing, while Davido’s camp maintains the paternity issue has already been resolved through previous testing. With no confirmed independent DNA result made public, the argument continues to draw reactions on social media and in entertainment news circles.
