Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Saudi Arabia after injury
Cristiano Ronaldo is set to leave Saudi Arabia to receive treatment after suffering a significant injury while playing for Al-Nassr, raising concerns about his availability for upcoming matches and international duties. Reports also emerged during the week linking his departure to growing tensions in the Middle East, although the trip is mainly related to medical treatment.
The 41-year-old Portuguese forward sustained a hamstring injury during Al-Nassr’s 3–1 victory over Al-Fayha in the Saudi Pro League. He limped off late in the match and subsequent medical tests revealed the muscle injury was more serious than initially expected. As a result, the club confirmed that Ronaldo will travel to Madrid, Spain, to undergo specialist rehabilitation with his personal medical team.
Al-Nassr coach Jorge Jesus explained that the decision was taken after medical evaluations showed the injury required rest and focused recovery. The injury means Ronaldo will miss several upcoming club fixtures and could also affect his participation in Portugal’s international friendlies scheduled later in the month.
At the same time, speculation about the star’s movements increased after reports tracked his private jet leaving Riyadh during rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. However, club sources indicated that the footballer remained in Saudi Arabia initially and that his travel plans were primarily connected to medical treatment rather than security concerns.
Despite the setback, Ronaldo has been enjoying a strong season with Al-Nassr, scoring more than twenty league goals and helping the club remain competitive in the Saudi Pro League title race. The focus for the veteran striker is now on recovery so he can return to action for both his club and the Portuguese national team ahead of key competitions later in the year.
