PSC promotes seven AIGs to DIGs
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to the rank of Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) in the Nigeria Police Force.
The commission announced that the promotions were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership within the police hierarchy and improve operational efficiency across the force. The newly promoted officers are expected to take on higher responsibilities in maintaining law and order across the country.
According to the PSC, the promotions followed due consideration of seniority, performance records, and professional conduct of the affected officers. The decision was reached during a plenary session of the commission where the careers of senior police officers were reviewed.
Officials stated that the elevation of the officers is intended to fill existing vacancies at the management level of the Nigeria Police Force and ensure effective command structure. The promoted DIGs will now be deployed to various strategic departments and commands within the force.
Security analysts say the move could help strengthen internal administration and coordination within the police, particularly as Nigeria continues to confront challenges such as banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminal activity.
The PSC reiterated its commitment to merit-based promotions and urged the newly elevated officers to demonstrate professionalism, discipline, and dedication in the discharge of their duties.
