Troops foil multiple terrorist attacks in Borno and Yobe
Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully foiled multiple terrorist attacks in parts of Borno State and Yobe State, preventing further violence in the North-East region. Military authorities disclosed that the operations were carried out following intelligence reports indicating planned assaults by insurgent groups operating in the area.
According to security sources, the troops launched coordinated counter-offensive operations in several communities where terrorists were believed to be planning attacks. The swift response by the soldiers disrupted the activities of the insurgents, forcing them to retreat after encountering heavy resistance from the military.
The North-East region of Nigeria has faced persistent security challenges linked to insurgent groups such as Boko Haram and its splinter faction Islamic State West Africa Province. These groups have been responsible for attacks on communities, security personnel, and public infrastructure over the years.
Military officials said troops recovered weapons and other items during the operations while continuing search-and-clear missions in surrounding areas to prevent regrouping by fleeing terrorists. The army also reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on insurgent elements across the region.
Residents in affected communities have welcomed the intervention, expressing hope that continued military presence will help restore stability and protect civilians. Security analysts say consistent intelligence gathering and rapid response operations remain key to weakening insurgent networks in the North-East.
