Wike reacts to Appeal Court judgment on PDP
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to the recent judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal concerning the leadership dispute within the Peoples Democratic Party, stating that the ruling confirms that “the law has spoken.”
Wike made the remark while addressing political supporters and journalists shortly after the judgment. According to him, the court’s decision has settled the issues surrounding the internal disagreements that have affected the party in recent months. He emphasized that respect for the rule of law remains essential in resolving political conflicts within democratic institutions.
The Court of Appeal ruling followed a series of legal battles within the PDP over party leadership and internal governance. The dispute had created divisions among party stakeholders, prompting legal action to determine the legitimacy of certain party decisions and structures.
Wike noted that the judgment should serve as a turning point for members of the party to focus on unity and strengthening democratic processes. He urged party members to accept the court’s decision and work toward rebuilding cohesion within the PDP.
Political analysts say the court ruling could have significant implications for the future of the opposition party in Nigeria, particularly as political alignments continue to shift ahead of future elections. Observers believe that how party leaders respond to the judgment may influence the stability and direction of the PDP moving forward.
