NNPP Faction and Accord Party Disown Ibadan Opposition Leaders’ Summit
A faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and the Accord Party have distanced themselves from the recent opposition leaders’ summit held in Ibadan, stating that they were neither involved in its planning nor represented at the gathering.
The groups made it clear that the summit did not have their official backing, raising concerns about the legitimacy of claims suggesting a united opposition front. According to representatives, any political meeting presented as a coalition effort must involve proper consultation and agreement among all participating parties.
Members of the NNPP faction emphasized that internal processes and leadership structures must be respected before endorsing such engagements. They noted that unauthorized representation could mislead the public and create confusion about the party’s official position.
Similarly, the Accord Party clarified that it did not authorize any individual to speak or act on its behalf at the summit. Party officials stressed the importance of transparency and coordination in any attempt to build alliances within the opposition space.
The development highlights ongoing divisions among opposition groups as discussions around collaboration continue. Analysts believe that without clear consensus and structured engagement, efforts to form a unified political front may face significant challenges.
As political activities gradually intensify, the situation reflects the complexities of alliance-building in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
