Adekeye Hosts NMEP Coordinator for World Malaria Day Dialogue
Public health advocate Adekeye recently hosted the National Malaria Elimination Programme coordinator, National Malaria Elimination Programme, as part of activities marking World Malaria Day 2026. The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration and advancing efforts to combat malaria in Nigeria.
The dialogue brought together key stakeholders in the health sector to discuss strategies aimed at reducing malaria cases and improving access to prevention and treatment. Participants highlighted the need for sustained awareness campaigns and community involvement to tackle the disease effectively.
During the session, the NMEP coordinator emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, proper treatment, and the use of preventive tools such as insecticide-treated nets. The coordinator also stressed that partnerships between government agencies, private organizations, and community leaders are essential for achieving long-term success.
Adekeye noted that the dialogue was an opportunity to reinforce commitment toward malaria eradication and encourage more active participation from young people and local communities. He added that education and consistent outreach remain critical in addressing misconceptions and improving health outcomes.
Health experts at the event reiterated that malaria continues to pose a major challenge in Nigeria, despite ongoing interventions. They called for increased funding, innovation, and coordinated efforts to accelerate progress toward elimination goals.
The event forms part of broader initiatives across the country to mark World Malaria Day, with stakeholders reaffirming their dedication to reducing the burden of the disease and improving public health.
