The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt in Lafia, Nasarawa State, leading to the killing of two suspected kidnappers and the arrest of two others. The operation unfolded along Kurikyo Road in the Bukan-Ari area following actionable intelligence about a criminal gang planning to abduct a Nigerian Customs Service officer, his wife, and other residents. The Corps’ Special Intelligence Squad carried out a coordinated five-hour operation using advanced intelligence gathering and tactical maneuvers. Two suspects surrendered and were arrested, two were neutralized, and one escaped with gunshot wounds, reportedly taking an AK-47 rifle. Authorities recovered weapons, ammunition, mobile phones, knives, cash, and items suspected to be charms during the operation. The arrested suspects have confessed to involvement in multiple abductions, and investigators say there are ongoing efforts to apprehend all members of the gang. The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging the public to report suspicious activity.
