Peller Shaves Head For Jarvis: Streamer Supports Wife Amid Online Mockery Over Hairstyle
Popular Nigerian content creator Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, shaved his head in a public show of solidarity with his newly wedded wife, Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, known as Jarvis, after she faced a wave of online criticism and mockery over her decision to cut her own hair.
Jarvis had debuted a low-cut, near-bald hairstyle in the days surrounding the couple’s wedding ceremonies, a look that quickly drew widespread commentary and, at times, harsh insults from social media users. Speculation initially swirled that the drastic haircut was connected to traditional marriage rites, but Jarvis later dismissed those claims, explaining that her hairstylist had recommended the cut to achieve a better fit for her bridal hair installation.
Rather than staying silent as the backlash against his wife intensified, Peller shared a video on social media on Friday, August 14, 2026, showing himself at a barbershop preparing to shave his own head in the exact same style. Speaking to the camera before the haircut began, he explained his reasoning in a mix of English and Pidgin, saying, “I want to barb skolo to surprise my wife. Because she barb skolo, everybody is abusing her and talking a lot about her. All the Nigerians, una dey whine my baby.” He remained in high spirits throughout the process, telling the barber, “Walahi, I still fine, take am, barb am,” as his hair was shaved off.
Once the transformation was complete, Peller went to reveal his new look to Jarvis, capturing her reaction on camera. She did not respond right away, initially telling him, “Report yourself, you did not check up on me,” before eventually agreeing to look at his shaved head. She appeared visibly surprised and pleased by the gesture, with Peller telling her, “My wife, I love you,” as the couple showed off their matching hairstyles together.
The gesture quickly went viral, generating significant reaction across social media platforms, with many users praising Peller for standing by his wife rather than distancing himself from the criticism directed at her. One user, Lauretha Okezie, wrote online, “You are doing great Peller, marriage doesn’t have formula. Anything you can do to make your wife happy go ahead. You guys will grow old together.” Not all reactions were entirely earnest, however, with some users jokingly questioning whether the moment was simply another instance of the couple turning controversy into viral content, a strategy that has characterised much of their public relationship.
The hair-shaving moment comes just days after Peller and Jarvis completed a series of elaborate wedding ceremonies held across Lagos and Edo State over a ten-day period. Their civil wedding took place in Lagos on July 29, 2026, followed by a traditional wedding in Lekki, Lagos, on August 1, which drew a large turnout of celebrities, musicians and influencers. Their white wedding, a smaller, more intimate event limited to between 80 and 100 guests, was held in Lagos on August 8. The couple’s every move since the ceremonies, including Peller’s recent disclosure that the wedding cost over N300 million, has continued to attract intense public attention, with the hairstyle episode marking the latest chapter in their closely watched public relationship.
