Father pleads guilty to killing his 7-month-old son
A California father, Jake Haro, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the death of his 7-month-old son, Emmanuel Haro.
During a hearing in Riverside County, Haro also admitted to assaulting a child under eight, filing a false police report, and causing bodily injury to a child He wept in court as the pleas were entered.
Emmanuel was reported missing on August 14, 2025, after Haro’s wife Rebecca claimed she was attacked in a parking lot while changing Emmanuel’s diaper and that the baby was abducted. However, investigators later found inconsistencies in their story and questioned the kidnapping claim.
The whereabouts of Emmanuel’s body remain unknown. Rebecca Haro has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on November 3, the same day Jake will be sentenced.
In the case record, authorities stated they believe Emmanuel was abused over time, and eventually succumbed to those injuries.
