Nigerian Dancer Poco Lee Set for London Court Date on September 15 Over Assault Allegation
Popular Nigerian dancer and hypeman, Iweh Odinaka, widely known by his stage name Poco Lee, is expected to appear before a London court on September 15, 2026, following his reported remand in the United Kingdom over an alleged assault offence.
The development was confirmed by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, who disclosed the update earlier this week. According to Kuti, Poco Lee is currently being held in a UK prison and is billed to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court at 10 am on the scheduled date for what is expected to be a plea hearing.
Kuti explained that the upcoming court session would typically require the entertainer to formally respond to the allegation against him by entering either a guilty or not-guilty plea. He noted that he intends to be physically present at the proceedings as part of his continued support for members of the Nigerian community facing legal challenges abroad, stressing that this is something he does regularly for Nigerians caught up in the UK justice system, including visits to those currently in custody.
The community leader also urged Nigerians both at home and abroad to withhold judgment until the legal process runs its full course, emphasising that anyone facing allegations remains presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law.
Speculation and reports about Poco Lee’s alleged detention in the UK first began circulating widely on social media around August 19, though much about the case remained unclear at the time, including the identity of the alleged complainant and the precise nature of the charges he may be facing.
