Nigerians Urged to Vote for Soye Karibi-George in Miss World 2026 People’s Choice
As Nigeria’s representative, Tamunosoye “Soye” Karibi-George, continues her run at the 73rd Miss World Festival in Vietnam, Nigerians at home and abroad are being encouraged to support her through the pageant’s official People’s Choice voting system, which offers contestants a direct route into the competition’s later stages.
Karibi-George, 26, emerged as Miss World Nigeria 2026 after defeating 19 other finalists at the pageant’s grand finale, held at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos. Although she represented Bayelsa State during the national competition, the communications strategist and model is originally from Port Harcourt, Rivers State. She has since travelled to Vietnam, joining contestants from around the world for the 73rd Miss World Festival, which kicked off on August 9 with a series of pre-final activities including a sash ceremony in Haiphong, a Top Model challenge at Dragon Beach Square, and a Sports Challenge, all building toward the grand finale scheduled for September 5 in Nha Trang.
To vote for Karibi-George, members of the public can visit the official Miss World voting platform online, where each registered voter is permitted to select and support their preferred contestants for free, with an option to unlock additional votes through a subscription to the Miss World App. According to the pageant’s official rules for this year’s edition, the People’s Choice vote is being run in stages. The first round, which determines the winners in each of the competition’s four continental regions, closes at 10pm Vietnam time on September 4. Voting then continues into a second stage, narrowing the field down to two candidates who advance to the Top 12, before a final round determines a single candidate who progresses to the Top 6. All 111 national representatives at this year’s festival remain eligible for the public vote, with voting for the overall People’s Choice winner continuing right up until the Miss World Final itself.
Beyond the People’s Choice component, this year’s format also allows contestants to qualify for the Top 40 by winning individual challenge categories such as Talent and Sports, regardless of which continental group they belong to. The remaining places within each continental region’s Top 10 will be filled by the judging panel, while the overall Top 20 will be made up of five automatic qualifiers alongside 15 additional contestants selected by the judges, structured to ensure five representatives from each of the pageant’s four continental regions.
Beyond her pageantry pursuits, Karibi-George has spoken about wanting her participation to represent more than a competition for a crown. Ahead of departing Nigeria for Vietnam, she shared a message with her followers describing her journey as one guided by purpose, expressing her hope to represent the country meaningfully on the global stage. A trained communications professional with an interest in advocacy, public engagement and social development, she studied at Madonna University, Okija, following her secondary education at Obiye High School and Obiye Academy, and holds an associate membership with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
As voting continues ahead of the September 5 finale, Nigerians have continued rallying behind Karibi-George on social media, hoping to help push her further into contention through the pageant’s People’s Choice mechanism as she looks to build on the country’s recent showings at the international pageant.
