Gehgeh Slams Mavo Over Alleged Leak of Shallipopi’s Financial Struggles, Urges Forgiveness
Nigerian financial commentator Gehgeh has publicly criticised content creator Mavo over an alleged private conversation in which Mavo reportedly discussed singer Shallipopi’s financial struggles, describing the alleged disclosure as a betrayal of the trust between the two men.
Reacting to the controversy on social media, Gehgeh did not hold back in his criticism, directly addressing Mavo. “Mavo, you’re a bad person. Shallipopi is like a brother to you; what would you gain from letting the streets know he’s broke?” he said. According to Gehgeh, the two men reportedly share a relationship comparable to that of an older and younger brother, making it especially difficult to understand why Mavo would allegedly choose to discuss such a sensitive matter involving Shallipopi in the first place. He went further, questioning what benefit anyone could derive from taking pleasure in another person’s downfall, and suggested that men are often more prone to gossip than they are given credit for.
The controversy stems from claims that Mavo discussed Shallipopi’s alleged financial difficulties in a private direct message conversation with an individual identified as Davrel, details of which have since circulated online and sparked wider public discussion. Despite the strength of his criticism, Gehgeh also used the moment to appeal directly to Shallipopi, urging the singer to forgive Mavo regardless of the alleged breach of trust. He pointed to the significant role Shallipopi had reportedly played in helping Mavo gain wider recognition and relevance within the entertainment space, suggesting that Mavo may not have fully appreciated just how much of his own visibility could be traced back to his association with the singer’s rise and musical style.
Beyond the specific incident, Gehgeh used the controversy to offer a broader word of caution, warning against openly discussing personal financial difficulties with people who may not be entirely trustworthy.
