Nasarawa couple arrested for child kidnapping
In a disturbing incident in Nasarawa State, Nigeria, a couple and an accomplice have been arrested for the abduction of a two-year-old boy. The child, identified as Godwin Abeson, was taken from his home in Sabon Pegi, Shabu, Lafia, on October 14, 2025. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₦15 million for his release.
The suspects, Asabe Isa and her husband Umar Isa, allegedly conspired to abduct the child. They handed him over to Emmanuel Polycarp, who kept the boy at his residence in Angwan Nungu, Lafia, while making ransom demands. The police launched an intensive manhunt, leading to the arrest of the trio and the safe recovery of the child on October 16, 2025. All three suspects have confessed to the crime, and investigations are ongoing.
This case is part of a broader pattern of kidnapping incidents in Nasarawa State, attributed to the influx of criminal elements from neighboring regions. The state police command has arrested 24 suspected kidnappers in recent months, underscoring the escalating security concerns in the area.
