Lagos police recover 75 mobile phones 5 laptops Ikeja
Officers from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command recovered a large cache of electronic devices during a routine early morning patrol in the Ikeja area of Lagos State. According to a statement by the police, around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, operatives patrolling near the Allen Roundabout intercepted two suspects who abandoned two large “Ghana Must Go” bags and fled the scene.
Upon inspection of the abandoned bags, the officers discovered 32 iPhones of various models, 38 other smartphones including brands such as Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor, as well as five laptops, multiple smartwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, and a Sorapad, in addition to several damaged phones. The items are believed to have been stolen from different parts of Ikeja and its environs, according to CSP Shola Jejeloye, Commander of the RRS. The suspects are still under investigation.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development on Saturday, October 18, noting that the command is encouraging members of the public who may have lost similar devices to visit the RRS Headquarters in Alausa with proof of ownership for proper identification and possible recovery. Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, commended the RRS operatives for their vigilance and professionalism. He reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and proactive crime-prevention efforts across the state.
This recovery highlights the importance of community-police collaboration in tackling theft and stolen property circulation. The fact that suspects abandoned the loot when they spotted law enforcement suggests that increased visibility of patrols in high-risk areas like Ikeja can deter criminal activity. Members of the public are also reminded to secure their devices, mark serial numbers, and report losses promptly to improve recovery chances.
