Don Jazzy Dismisses Viral Baby Rumour on Ayra Starr’s Mum
Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy has reacted to a viral social media post that claimed he and the mother of singer Ayra Starr were expecting a baby. The claim began circulating on X on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, and he responded on Wednesday with a sarcastic message, according to P.M. News. No evidence has been published to support it.
The claim and the response
According to P.M. News, the post alleged that Don Jazzy and the singer’s mother were celebrating as they prepared to welcome an unborn child. It came with images and a video showing a man and a pregnant woman holding what looked like a scan, plus footage from a celebration.
P.M. News said it could not verify the authenticity of the images or video, or the identities of the people in them.
Don Jazzy replied to the poster on Wednesday, saying he would beg the user’s family members to “talk sense to you now o”. The exchange drew many reactions from social media users, P.M. News reported.
Background and timeline
P.M. News says the rumour followed earlier online speculation linking Don Jazzy and the singer’s mother, including images some users questioned as possibly AI-generated. Leadership reported that fans and industry observers described the new post as unverified and likely manipulated.
Some reports say the video in the post was not new. Creebhills and eelive reported that the clip was first shared by the singer’s mother in November 2023 and later reposted with a new caption. Joydey9ja.com has not independently confirmed this.
Newsclick notes that Don Jazzy, whose real name is Michael Collins Ajereh, co-founded Mo’ Hits Records in 2004 and launched Mavin Records in 2012. P.M. News says Mavin helped launch Ayra Starr’s career.
Here is the timeline as reported:
- November 2023: Clip reportedly first shared by the singer’s mother (unconfirmed).
- September 29, 2026: X post makes the baby claim.
- September 30: Don Jazzy responds sarcastically.
- October 2: Reports emerge that the X user was arrested; police have not confirmed.
- October 5: Don Jazzy denies involvement in any arrest.
Reactions and the other side
Legit.ng reports that on Monday, October 5, an X user asked Don Jazzy directly whether he arranged the reported arrest. He denied any role and suggested the original poster may have been seeking online engagement.
Legit.ng and Gistlover both note that police have not confirmed the arrest, and that Ayra Starr and her mother had not commented on it in the reports reviewed. Details of the arrest are therefore unverified.
Why it matters and what happens next
The episode shows how quickly an unverified post can spread. P.M. News stressed that there is no confirmed evidence supporting the viral pregnancy allegation.
Ayra Starr recently released her third studio album, Starr Girl, P.M. News noted, and her mother has drawn attention online for supporting its promotion.
No official statement from the singer, her mother or the police has been published in the sources reviewed. Any confirmed developments, including the status of the reported arrest, will be added here.
