Alex Otti warns riggers write their wills
Abia State Governor Alex Otti has issued a blunt warning to anyone plotting to rig the 2027 governorship election in the state, saying those who plan to fabricate results should “write their will” before doing so. The governor made the remarks during his monthly media briefing at the Government House in Umuahia, where he vowed that Abia residents would not be intimidated or robbed of their vote.
Otti said reports that some people close to would-be plotters planned to “write results” were unacceptable and that anyone thinking of subverting the people’s mandate must reconsider. He emphasised that the people of Abia will freely choose their next leader through the ballot and that state authorities would not condone attempts to manipulate the outcome.
The governor also urged politicians to respect the Independent National Electoral Commission’s timetable and rules, warning against premature campaigning and activities that could undermine the electoral process. He framed his comments as both a deterrent to would-be riggers and a reassurance to voters that the government supports a credible vote.
Reactions to Otti’s warning appeared quickly on social media and in local news outlets, where the video of his statement was shared and reported. Analysts and political observers noted that sharp statements by sitting governors often aim to signal readiness to defend electoral integrity while also deterring opponents who may consider illegal tactics.
