Bandits attack Kwara community
Bandits have attacked a community in Kwara State, killing two residents and leaving others in fear as insecurity continues to trouble parts of the state. The attack reportedly occurred when the assailants stormed the area in the night, shooting sporadically and causing residents to flee their homes for safety.
Local sources said the victims were caught during the sudden invasion, and efforts to save them were unsuccessful. The attackers were said to have escaped before security operatives could arrive at the scene. The incident has heightened tension in the community, with many residents expressing concern over the growing frequency of such attacks.
Community leaders have condemned the killings and called on the government and security agencies to strengthen protection in rural areas. They stressed that farmers and villagers are increasingly vulnerable, which is affecting daily activities and livelihoods. Some residents also appealed for increased patrols and intelligence-driven operations to prevent further violence.
Security agencies are yet to issue a detailed statement on the incident, but investigations are expected to begin as efforts continue to track down the perpetrators. The attack adds to ongoing worries about banditry and violent crime in parts of Kwara State and neighbouring regions.
